現在巴黎凱旋門被裹上銀藍色的大型布幔,出自藝術家Christo 1960年代的一幅凱旋門蒙太奇素描,時光回到1961 年,Christo 與 Jeanne-Claude在巴黎相遇,此後 Christo和Jeanne-Claude便開始在公共場所創作藝術作品,以 Christo&Jeanne-Claude為名,他們的一個項目即是包裹一座公共建築。當他最初造訪巴黎時,Christo在凱旋門附近租了一個小房間,從那時起就被凱旋門所吸引。1962 年,他畫了一張從香榭大道上望向凱旋門的蒙太奇照片,並於 1988 年製作了一張拼貼畫。60年後,該企劃最終得以具體化。

在《The Guradian》受訪時提到:非常驚喜獲得了授權,這一切都非常突然。該提案可以追溯到 1962 年,我拋出了幾個計畫,我們出售這些計劃以資助公共場所創作藝術作品。在 80 年代末,我甚至用人造織物製作了一個非常精緻的拼貼版;我們當時認為凱旋門企劃永遠不會看到曙光,我從沒想過它會發生。

包括 義大利10萬平方米漂浮碼頭、倫敦海德公園湖中央Mastaba 金字塔、紐約中央公園7,500座橘色門道、包裹柏林國會大廈,這些耗費25年起算的藝術創作,對Christo來說那不是耐心,那是對於創作的熱情。

Jeanne-Claude 於2009年離世,Christo 在去年也離世,他曾提道:他正在進行的藝術作品在他去世後會繼續進行,由他的團隊實現。

L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped 藝術作品在巴黎16天展期,爭取到旭麗府邸與龐畢度中心贊助,與 Christo 長年出售自己藝術品的資金來完成這次企劃,透過25,000平方米的銀藍色的回收纖維與超過3000公尺的紅繩將整座凱旋門包覆起來,將古羅馬建築的莊嚴與布雜藝術的碰撞,覆蓋上一層輕盈無暇的銀藍纖維,隨著觀者移動、視角而產生不同的變化,在腦海中留下不同的景色,給我們內心留下碰觸永恆的嘗試。
